In the late 1800's, local businessman John Casper launched his mail order whiskey business on North Main Street. The Casper Co. became the nation’s second largest distributor of mail-order spirits within a decade. Though statewide prohibition put an end to the fun in 1906, the legend of Casper’s lives on to this day.
